Personality: Harriet Jones is a sensible person through and through. She is intelligent and modest and is able to keep a calm head in the face of crisis as shown by when she first met the Doctor and encountered aliens for the first time. She believes in doing what is right for the human race, even if it is not the easy answer, as shown by the order for Torchwood to shoot down the Sycorax ship while they were retreating from the Earth. She couldn't take the risk that they would come back with even a larger force and destroy the Earth. While it isn't something that the Doctor approved of it is something she still stands by until this day. That isn't to say that she hasn't questioned her actions over the years, especially because to her the Doctor is someone who is wise and knowledgeable.

Harriet dreads failing her family and constituents when she was an MP and then Prime Minister of England. She might have been from a tiny place that no one has heard of. She just wants to do the best by then. She doesn't do it to be popular, she just wants everyone to be safe and happy. Since meeting the Doctor and Rose, she has taken this need to protect and fight for her constituency to the entirety of the human race. As a former Prime Minister, she has a lot of contacts and she is willing to use them in order to get the necessary tools to work with others in order to fight for the safety of Earth.

Growing up, her mother was someone she looked up to and respected a lot. Her father died when she was young and instead of letting that impact her for the negative her mother set out to be the best mother that she could. She worked two jobs, but always had time for her daughter. Her mother, despite the time, taught her to look out for everyone regardless of their background. People are people and should be treated as such. The most important lesson that Harriet took from all of this is to be the best that you can and to look out for everyone.

Unfortunately, this means that Harriet has put a lot of pressure on herself to do her best. She constantly pushes herself to do better than she currently is even if it isn't actually possible to do better. It doesn't help that she is in a very male-dominated field that looks to her gender and sees it as a weakness. Of course, not all of them are sexist but a lot of them unfortunately are and it, therefore, drives her to do even better than her male counterparts. This has also led her to be incredibly resourceful and able to see ways to solve problems that others might not. It is all of this combined that helped her bring about England's Golden Age.

She is, incredibly proud of what she has accomplished in life though wishes she could have done more.

Harriet craves knowledge, she loves learning and pushing herself and can come off as rather know it all if she gets involved in a topic, which is surprising given how modest she is generally. Her favourite past time is relaxing with a good book - usually, non-fiction - and a cup of tea curled up on the couch. She did incredibly well at school and if she wasn't so focused on helping people first and foremost, she could have gone into sciences but instead went into Law and worked as a Civil Rights lawyer before she entered politics.

Harriet used to look up and respect the Doctor, but these days, while she has come to terms with what happened she still blames him for ruining her career which she believes she would have continued on just fine if he hadn't whispered those words to her assistant, effectively running her out of office. She no longer trusts him on a personal level, but despite that knows he is still the best person to protect the Earth. She will and has gone out of her way to do her own part in protecting Earth including connecting all the Children of Time on Earth and working with them to save Earth from the Daleks. She believes they are just as capable as the Doctor when it comes to protecting humanity.

Since first meeting the Doctor, she has encountered a few alien species - the Slitheen, the Sycorax and finally the Daleks - the latter of which came near to exterminating (killing) all of the universe. She never once faulted in her actions and didn't let fear influence her decisions. She faced death head-on and while her plan of the trap door and secret escape actually worked (she wasn't sure if it actually would). Perhaps, despite the respect that she has for him she is perhaps the most scared of the Doctor and the power he wields, he is, as she once said to him the most remarkable man that she has met and is incredibly cautious of him despite all the good that he does do.

Harriet has never been the most social of people preferring her own company over that of other people. She enjoys having a handful of close, incredibly trusted friends rather than a large group of people that she kind of knows. She is, though the organiser of the group, the one to regularly reach out to people to see if they are alright, organise a dinner to catch up to and make sure that everyone has a suitable present for their birthday and generally enjoys themselves.
